This Corporation was set up in 1982 as Haryana Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam Limited In 1987 a women wing was established in the Corporation and it was renamed as “Haryana Women & Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam”. Again on1.4. 1991, the Nigam was converted into Women Development Corporation on persuasion of Govt. of India and was renamed as “Haryana Women Development Corporation Limited. The Corporation is registered under Companies Act, 1956 with an authorized Share Capital of Rs.10.00 Crores and its paid up Share Capital is 729.70 lacs presently. As per guidelines of Government of India the share capital was shared by the State Government and Government of India in the ratio of 51:49 and the Corporation had received Rs.109.98 lacs from GOI. But in 1991-92, Government of India decided to transfer the Scheme to State Sector and now 100% Share Capital is being given by State Government
i) To promote activities for the welfare, development and advancement of women;
ii) To do undertake the task of socio-economic, health and educational, awareness for women;
iii) To promote, literacy, talent, skill, know how, health awareness, enterprises, spirit of entrepreneurship and business acumen among women;
iv) To identify trades, occupations, professions and industries which can be taken by women and to train them for such trades, occupations, professions, industries and to formulate and devise employment schemes with a view to generate self employment for them.
